Why is Seagrass such an amazing plant?

The Porthdinllaen’s Seagrass bed is one of the largest and densest in Wales and covers an area of approximately 286,350m² - equivalent to over 40 football pitches

But why is this seagrass bed, like many others so important?

It's a nursery for small fish, which help support our local economy 🐟

It absorbs and stores carbon, which protects our climate 🌍

It produces oxygen and filters our water, which protects our health 😊

✅ It's a biodiversity hotspots 🦞🐟🦀

✅ It's a wonderfull place to snorkel and scuba dive to spot marine wildlife🤿

✅ It provides coastal protection by reducing erosion rates 🌊
